What an Accounting Degree Can Do for You


An accounting degree is an excellent investment. Every industry and every type of organization needs trained accountants and, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand is high and expected to grow over the coming years.*

Minnesota School of Business-Rochester offers four accounting degree and diploma programs, preparing students for entry into and advancement in this high-value field.

Accounting program summaries

Bachelor's in accounting. Study year-round and complete this four-year degree in 36 months. It is a strong credential—The US Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook states, "Most accountant and auditor positions require at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting." Graduates of the BS program are prepared for the Minnesota CPA exam.

Associate in  accounting and tax specialist. This program includes all studies in the management accounting program, as well as an additional quarter of studies in tax accounting and an ABA certification review course. You will be prepared for positions in corporate tax departments or to manage your own home-based tax preparation and business consulting service.

Associate in management accounting. Focused training in the fundamentals of corporate accounting, this two-year program is an excellent way to enter the field. You will be prepared for a number of national accounting certification exams.

Accounting diploma. In just 12 months, get skills for an entry-level position in bookkeeping, accounting or office management.

Accounting — more than just numbers

Accountants do deal with numbers, but that is just the start. They also organize and present financial information to corporate management teams, shareholders and private clients. As an accountant, you will be in an excellent position for advancement in your organization.
