Online education—building on a strong tradition
Online education is the descendant of earlier distance learning efforts. In the 19th century, students mailed their completed assignments to the instructor and had little other contact with fellow students or their teachers. In the 20th century, students participated in distance learning sessions that were really conference telephone calls. Although students were able to ask questions during the session, they still submitted their completed work by mail.

Online education today is a big improvement over either of these methods. Students have the opportunity to interact with other students in the class as well as with the instructor. 21st century distance learning allows them to complete their educations despite busy schedules and demanding jobs. Students at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business are able to complete MBA, bachelor’s or associate degrees as well as career diplomas online.

Why online?
There are many reasons why students take advantage of our online degree and diploma options. Students most often mention these:
- Online classes make the best use of your time. When you take classes online, all of your time is spent in class. You do not have to budget time for commuting or parking.
- Military students deployed overseas usually find that online education is the only way they can take college classes. This is also true of students who travel frequently for their jobs or have family responsibilities that prevent them from attending classes regularly.
- Students can often complete an online degree more quickly because of the built-in efficiencies of the program.
What makes GU/MSB different?
We offer a high level of support to our online students so they can focus on their classes rather than worrying about technical issues. We also provide students with a variety of scheduling options. Although many students complete degree and diploma programs entirely online, others take classes both online and at our Rochester campus. Online degree students can take advantage of the Career Services department, which offers assistance to all students before and after they graduate. We offer a variety of degree and diploma programs online to meet students’ needs.

Certificate program
Individual classes also available online
Students can also complete individual classes online even when their complete programs are not available through our online division. For example, students in the medical assistant program are required to take Keyboarding. They can complete this class online, even though they must take other classes at our Rochester college or at another of our 12 campuses.
