Beyond the Classroom: Student Activities at MSB-Rochester

Education isn’t just about taking classes. It involves developing interpersonal skills, learning what’s important to you and figuring out how to achieve your goals. A great way to do this is to become involved in student activities. Students at Minnesota School of Business-Rochester can join clubs and organizations that are both fun and useful.

Extracurricular activities reinforce course content

Our student activities reinforce classroom training, provide opportunities for social and professional networking and strengthen our campus community. Some clubs are career-specific, others are open to all students. They include the following:

  • Veterinary Technology. Our campus is home to a very active student chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (SCNAVTA). Known as PETS, this organization conducts dog-washing clinics as fund-raisers and undertakes projects involving animal shelters and companion animals.
  • Legal Science. The Legal Club is very popular among paralegal and criminal justice students. At each of the twice-monthly meetings, a student makes a presentation on an article or news feature related to their area of study. The group also invites other students to their social events.
  • Business. Dex, the student organization of DECCA, an international business organization, offers students the chance to compete with students from other colleges. The Rochester chapter of DEX also hosts on-campus events, such as the Running Start for School campaign that collects school supplies for lower-income kids in Olmstead County.
  • Information Technology. The IT Club runs a help desk in the Student Resource Center. Club volunteers answer questions about computer viruses, document retrieval and basic operations of commonly used software applications.
  • Health Sciences. Club Health is a group for students in health-related programs such as medical assistant and massage therapy.
  • Student Ambassadors. Student Ambassadors helps promote and represent the campus in the community.

Events sponsored by these student groups are announced on the events bulletin boards on campus and in a Weekly Happenings e-mail sent by the Student Service Coordinator.

Students also get involved in activities not specifically related to their programs. Students at our Rochester campus can be found watching TV in the Commons area or volunteering for community beautification projects. Our campus life is rich with opportunity. Contact us toll-free at 888-662-8772 to learn more about student activities at the Rochester campus of Globe University/Minnesota School of Business.
