19th century roots, 21st century college
Our Rochester, MN, college continues a tradition of career education that began in 1877. From its first days, Minnesota School of Business has focused on providing practical knowledge and high-value skills. Today we offer an expanded curriculum from a network of Midwestern college campuses, but we remain committed to student success.

Expansion and growth
The school was established in downtown Minneapolis, where it occupied various landmark buildings, including Jewelers Exchange Building and Chamber of Commerce Building. In 1993, a few years after opening its first branch campus, the college moved to Richfield. The Rochester campus opened in May 2005, where it offered expanded business programs, health science, legal science and information technology. Today, more than 600 students are enrolled in two dozen degree and diploma programs at GU/MSB-Rochester.
From bookkeeping and shorthand to information technology
Minnesota School of Business offered one of the first shorthand programs in Minnesota; in the 1960s it became a leader in training students to use new computing technologies. Today the school awards bachelor's and associate degrees in Information Technology. Students graduate prepared for careers in network security, software application development or systems management.
Some things never change
Even though the school has added new campuses and programs, it continues to provide students with the support they need to achieve their goals. An early advertising slogan expressed what we still do today: Minnesota School of Business is a place where “The needs of each student are constantly studied and satisfied.” We continue to be known for providing personal attention and education that trains students for careers.
